What is the difference between Polaroid and Fujifilm Instax instant film?

Indeed the Polaroid Instax game (and not Polaroide Instax as it can sometimes be read) is disputed.

Polaroid

Polaroid instant photo film was invented in the 1950s. At the time revolutionary, the process allows the photo to develop instantly thanks to the diffusion of development products in the emulsion.

The format of Polaroid films is iconic: a square of 7.9 x 7.9 cm in a rectangle of 10.7 x 8.8 cm.

The larger bottom margin allows a better grip on the photo without altering the image.

Iconic camera of the 70's, the Polaroid SX 70 requires particular films of 125 ISO.

All other Polaroid film 600 are compatible with Polaroid 600, SLR680, SLR 690, and many Polaroid camera / Polaroid Camera.

Recently, Polaroid launched the Polaroid Go, a miniature version to compete with the Fujifilm Instax.

Instax

The Fujifilm Instax range has been a success story since its launch.

A totally different technology from the one used by Polaroid (Fuji uses Kodak patents, yes it does), the Instax system is available in two formats: Instax Wide and Instax Mini

Instax Mini: a credit card size image, but with a much higher definition than the Polaroid. Compatible with the Instax Mini 11 camera

Instax Wide: a rectangular format quite large, an image in 6x9.
