PRESTIGE RC 1 is a high sensitivity, variable contrast black and white enlargement paper with a polyethylene coated base.
High quality neutral tone paper suitable for machine and bowl processing. It gives a consistent black tone for all grades and a high degree of sharpness.
PRESTIGE RC 1 is available with a glossy surface.
Contrast control
Contrast, in the range equivalent to grades 00 to 5, can be achieved by the colour filters used in the enlarger. Ilford Multigrade or Kodak Polycontrast filters are suitable, as well as Durst enlarging heads with yellow and magenta filters.
Exposure Guide
This paper is designed for use with tungsten or halogen tungsten light sources. Other light sources may provide different contrast values.
For Ilford Multigrade filters, grades 00 to 3 have the same speed (ISO P 250) and grades 4 to 5 require double exposure.
Grade/filter correspondence for an enlarger type
When no filter is used, the paper has a contrast of about 2 and an ISO speed of P 640.
Handling and safety lighting
Kodak OC or equivalent multi-contrast inact lighting is recommended. Red inactinic lighting can also be used. It should always be more than one metre away from the paper.
Processing
PRESTIGE RC 1 can be processed in a B&W paper processor or in a tray.
Development
Any good quality developer for black and white paper gives good results. However, BERGGER recommends developing the paper in BERGGER Neutral Print developer for cool to neutral tones, and in BERGGER Warmtone Print developer for slightly warm tones. In general, it will take between 60 and 90 seconds at 20°C.
Fixing
After a quick rinse with water or solution, the prints should be fixed in a black and white paper fixing bath, following the manufacturer's recommendations. In general, it will take about 1 min at 20°C.
Washing
Fixed tests should be washed under running water for 3 to 4 minutes.
Latent image stability
PRESTIGE RC1 has excellent latent image stability characteristics. No change in the prints appears even after 24 hours.
Storage
Store in a cool place for best conversation.
